• [Sep 05]: WHEN the Tories took control of Richmond Council in May 2010, they put planned improvements to the forecourt of Richmond Station on hold. Now 18 months later they have finally decided to implement virtually identical proposals.
Cllr Stephen Knight, Leader of the Liberal Democrats on Richmond Council, said: "Tory councillors and Zac Goldsmith were very critical of our plans to improve the forecourt area outside Richmond Station and when they took control of the council in May last year they put the whole thing on hold. After wasting all this time they have now finally decided to implement a virtually identical scheme. Meanwhile residents and visitors to the town have had to put up with the current poor facilities for another 18 months."
