• [Jul 22] IN response to criticism for proposing to remove Bus Countdown facilities to plug gaps elsewhere the Mayor of London has decided that in Richmond borough the new generation Countdown facilities will be at exactly the same bus stops as before.
Cllr Stephen Knight, Leader of the Liberal Democrats on Richmond Council, said: "While we are pleased that existing bus stops with Countdown will not be down-graded, this still leaves big gaps in our main shopping centres such as both sides of King Street, Twickenham and also George Street, Richmond. Countdown enables bus passengers to make the best use of their time and the best use of our many excellent bus routes.
"The Mayor needs to make more resources available to make sure that all our busiest bus stops have this excellent facility and we have pressed for this to happen. We also continue to press for the urgent reinstatement of the Countdown facility at Richmond bus station which has been missing for months and for which TfL now blame EDF."
