• [Apr 15]: WITH over £5 million transferring from the NHS to council social care budgets, Liberal Democrat councillors last week called for more information on the decisions governing the transfer from the NHS to the Council.
Lib Dem social care spokesperson Liz Jaeger said: "With front line services like the Tangley dementia care centre closing, and with changes to eligibility criteria for help with social care needs, it is important that we understand what restrictions there are, if any, on the use of this new money."
The funding agreement with NHS Richmond was reported to the 23 March cabinet meeting, and includes some £5.3 million to be transferred over the three years 2010/11 to 2012/13. The call-in of the decision is made because there has been no examination of the principles agreed for use of the funding, no examination of the areas planned to receive funding under this agreement, and no examination of the impact of the transfer on social care budgets. A scrutiny meeting to hear this call in has been arranged for Wednesday, 4th May.
