Council must act against unauthorised demolition of protected Victorian house

• [Jan 22] AT next week's Council Meeting Cllr Martin Elengorn will ask Cllr Virginia Morris, Cabinet Member for Environment, to make a statement on what steps she proposes to take following the unauthorised demolition of an early Victorian Building of Townscape Merit in Trafalgar Road, in the Twickenham Green Conservation Area.
Martin Elengorn said: "Unauthorised demolition in a Conservation Area is a criminal offence and this is the worst loss of its sort in the borough for many years. I would expect the Council to take the most vigorous legal action. I would also like confirmation that the Council's procedures for dealing with Building Control consents in parallel with Planning and Conservation Area consents made it quite clear that they were required under both jurisdictions."
