• BACK door plans to sneak through an "outrageous" increase night flights have been slammed by Susan Kramer.
The Civil Aviation Authority has listed key issues for the Olympic Games including increasing the number of aeroplanes in our skies and lifting the ban on night flights. It is feared that some of these changes could be made permanent. Susan Kramer has tabled questions in Parliament to the Department of Transport to ask for urgent clarification on the plans. She said:
"It is absolutely outrageous that the Olympics are being used to sneak the lifting of the ban on night flights through the back door. Being kept awake by the roar of huge engines is hardly the Olympic legacy that those living under the flight path deserve. We already have precious little respite from the constant barrage of noise and pollution from flights. I will fight tooth and nail to stop any attempt to reduce our short sanctuary."
