• [Oct 28]: SUSAN Kramer today met with Kulveer Ranger, the Deputy Mayor of London for Transport as part of a cross-party delegation to discuss the campaign for a school bus for Shene School.
The meeting secured an agreement from Transport for London to investigate a new option to solve the problem of overcrowding on bus services at the end of the school day. She proposed that during the first hour at the end of the school day two number 33 buses should be terminated at the East Sheen stop (near Waitrose) to travel to Shene School. Children could then be collected from within the school site and taken to Hammersmith, alleviating much of the overcrowding on other bus services.
Susan Kramer commented: "Transport for London has agreed to investigate this new option. Diverting just two buses at the very busiest time could really help alleviate some of the problems with overcrowding at the end of the school day. I hope that this could be achieved easily, with only minimal disruption to the timetabling of the normal 33 bus service."
Councillor Malcolm Eady, Cabinet Member for Children's Services and Education said: "While Transport for London still refuses to fund a dedicated school bus service, this option looks like it could be an excellent way forward."
