• IN the last three months, more than 2,500 people aged over-60 have taken up Richmond Council's offer of free swimming. The scheme, which began in April, is available at the borough's three public pools.
Commenting on the success of the scheme, Cllr Liz Jaeger, Cabinet Member for Youth, Culture and Leisure on Richmond Council, said: "I'm delighted so many people have taken up the offer, particularly in such a short space of time. We want to make sure that older people have opportunities to remain fit and active and being able to provide these for free is a great incentive for people to get involved. We have seen a rapid uptake in people going swimming and I hope this continues in the coming months."
