• COMMENTING on the Royal Parks' consultation on the possible introduction of parking charges at Richmond Park, Susan Kramer said:
"I am very concerned about the impact the introduction of charges will have on residential parking around Richmond Park, as some of these roads are already heavily congested. Local people will understandably be worried their roads will be impacted by visitors trying to avoid paying. Getting out and about in the fresh air in Richmond Park helps local people stay healthy and happy.
There is presently no public transport access to the Park, and introducing charges may discourage the elderly and those on low incomes from visiting at all. Royal Parks seems intent on implementing universal policies rather than taking account of local circumstances and this idea seems designed primarily for places like Hyde Park. I will be feeding these points into the consultation on the plans."
