• SUSAN Kramer has welcomed the announcement by Transport Minister Lord Adonis that South West Trains would be forced to scrap its plan to cut ticket office opening hours.
She commented: "I am glad South West Trains has been prevented from cutting ticket office opening hours. Lines are already long at many of the stations in our area, and many passengers cannot get the tickets they need from a machine. For complicated journeys, or to purchase boundary rail tickets it is often essential to speak to ticket office staff. Rail fares rose again this year, and more and more passengers are questioning what kind of service they are receiving for their money. When passengers are paying a premium to travel on often overcrowded trains it is not unreasonable to expect to be able to speak to ticket office staff about their journey."
South West Trains had been planning to cut ticket office opening hours at Barnes, Mortlake, and New Malden stations, and reduce the number of ticket office windows open at Richmond and Kingston
