• LOCAL councillors have today called upon residents to vote for a precious £400,000 cash injection from the Mayor of London for Crane Valley Park.
Crane Valley Park was last week announced as one of 47 parks on a shortlist for a slice of the £6 million fund made available by the Mayor of London. The ten parks receiving most votes from the public will receive grants of up to £400,000.
The park runs through the heart of West Twickenham ward and local councillors - Piers Allen and Munira Wilson - are urging residents across the London Boroughs of Richmond and Hounslow to vote for Crane Valley Park.
Cllr Munira Wilson said, "I've already texted in my vote. I'm urging all my friends and colleagues to vote for Crane Valley Park too. The much-needed cash will help improve safety, signage and access for users, as well the wildlife habitat. This is a fantastic and rare opportunity for residents to ensure valuable investment comes to our local area.
"If you're picking up the phone on Saturday night to vote for your favourite contestant on Strictly Come Dancing or X Factor, I'd urge you to vote for your local park at the same time. Just text 'parks' and your postcode to 62967 or visit http://www.london.gov.uk/parksvote/. You can vote until 5 pm on 30 January."
