Manor Road level crossing - will it be closed most of the time?
• HEATHROW Airtrack is a project being led by the British Airport Authority (BAA) proposing a new rail link between Heathrow Terminal 5 and the existing rail network to the south and west, including Reading, Guildford and London Waterloo.
Earlier this year, BAA consulted on the major new works that will be required to link the Heathrow Terminal 5 station to the existing rail network in Staines. The BAA have now embarked on a second round of consultation which consultation will address:
• Changes to the scheme presented in the first stage consultation
• The effects of construction and operation of the rail link on the local community and environment
• The extent of the works required for the whole Heathrow Airtrack scheme, including a new depot at Feltham
• Changes that may be required to existing rail services.
Originally, BAA had not planned on conducting a consultation event in Richmond. However, after representations from the Council they have agreed that speaking with the people of Richmond was vital to ensuring the success of their project. Accordingly, they announced this morning that they would hold one of their exhibition events in this borough. This will be at: Queen Charlotte Hall, Parkshot Centre, Richmond; Thursday, 27th November 2008: 1 pm until 8 pm. Further details can be obtained from BAA by following the link below, where you can also download a copy of the consultation brochure.
