Kew Councillor, Serge Lourie has called for an all party approach to Transport for London and the railway companies to improve the reliability of the District Line and Silverlink. This was prompted by the collapse of the system in the morning and afternoon of 11 August.
He is moving a motion at the next Council Meeting
"In view of the continual failures along the District Line/Silverlink branch to Richmond, this Council calls for urgent discussion to take place with Transport for London and the railway companies to ensure that the reliability of underground and Silverlink trains to Richmond Station is improved."
Cllr Lourie has invited Conservative Councillors in Richmond and Kew to support him.
Speaking at York House, he said:
"I am very concerned that the service on the Richmond branch of the District Line and Silverlink is getting worse. Local commuters are often forced to walk from Turnham Green because of points or signal failures. I hope to encourage an all party approach to Transport for London to establish what the problem is and to ensure that there is sufficient investment to provide a reliable service."
